Meownlight

Privacy policy

Last updated 30 October 2026

In short: Meownlight has no accounts and we don't collect your name, email or location. Your game progress stays on your phone. We collect anonymous play data and crash reports to improve the game, and you can turn play data off in Settings. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, and purchases are handled by Apple or Google with help from RevenueCat. Those services process some data, explained below.

Who we are

Meownlight is made by Woodland ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the app.

What we collect

We do not run our own servers for Meownlight and we don't collect your name, email or contact details. There are no accounts and no sign-in.

Your progress (streets lit, cats found, treats, settings) is saved only on your device. It is deleted if you delete the app.

Anonymous play data (PostHog)

To learn which parts of the game people enjoy and where they get stuck, the app sends anonymous play events to PostHog, hosted in the EU. For example: a street was lit (its number and how many mistakes), the Daily Street was played, a chest was opened, a rewarded ad was watched, or a purchase was made. Each install has a random ID so we can count returning players. We don't send your name, email, advertising identifier or precise location, and we've turned off location lookup from your IP address.

You can turn this off at any time in the game under Settings › Share anonymous play data. See PostHog's privacy policy.

Crash reports (Sentry)

If the game crashes or hits an error, a crash report is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. It includes technical details such as the error, the app version, and your device model and operating system. It doesn't include personal information. See Sentry's privacy policy.

Ads (Google AdMob)

Meownlight shows ads using Google AdMob. Some ads are rewarded ads that you choose to watch, and some are short breaks between streets. To show and measure ads, Google may collect:

If you are in the UK, the EU or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in the game under Settings › Ad privacy choices.

On iPhone, apps can only use your device's advertising identifier if you allow it when asked. If you don't, ads are not personalised using it. You can change this in your iPhone's Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Google's use of this data is covered by Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Purchases (Apple, Google and RevenueCat)

The Night Owl Club, No ad breaks and treat packs are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google take the payment. We never see your card details or your name.

We use RevenueCat to check which purchases you own, so the game can unlock them and restore them. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipts and basic device information. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Why we use this data

Where data goes

Google, RevenueCat and Sentry may process data outside the UK and EU, including in the United States. They use legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for these transfers.

How long it's kept

Anonymous play data and crash reports are kept for up to a year. Google and RevenueCat keep data for the periods set out in their own policies. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to restore your purchases and to meet tax and accounting rules.

Children

Meownlight is a family-friendly game but it is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we'll help remove it.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data, object to its use, or withdraw consent. Because play data is anonymous we can't usually link it to you, and most other requests are best made to Google or RevenueCat directly, but we're happy to help.

If you're unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change how Meownlight uses data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
